Now we’re well into the 2021-22 season, lets take a look at what’s been going on around the club:

On The Pitch

> We’ve Increased Pitch Space for our Juniors. Taking on last years feedback, we’ve increased pitch space for our U8s, U10s & U12s to enhance their development.

> We’re supporting both players & volunteers through their coaching qualifications. Our cohort of junior coach’s are undertaking England Hockey qualifications to show our continued support in developing players, coach’s & club infrastructure.

> We’ve recruited two new level 2 Coach’s to the senior coaching team. Mike Salmon has joined the club to lead our Mens performance program, whilst Harry Bal bolsters our Ladies set up as L3s coach.

> We’ve introduced weekly GK training. Lead by our GK coach Andy Gayler these sessions alternates locations, switching between Ladies & Mens 1s training sessions and is open to all GKs

> We’re supporting players & volunteers in achieving their umpire qualifications. Continuing  last years pledge, in the last month we’ve seen 4 junior volunteers attend the course. Please contact Mark Windsor for further information on becoming an umpire.

> We’re integrating video analyses into the club to build upon team performance & player development.

> We continue to develop our injury clinic whichisnow based out of the Kings School pavilion on Wednesday evenings. This improves accessibility no longer clashing with senior training and improve accessibility to our juniors.

Off The Pitch

> We’ve had fresh faces come into the committee. Bringing fresh ideas, we’ve welcomed Chairman Adam Hutchinson, Rich Mobberley as Mens CC, Tony Heatlie transitions to Junior CC & Brian Mobberley bring his wealth of experience to the team. We’ve also welcomed Rob Charsley as Welfare Officer following Gills incredible 10 year service to the club.

> We’ve launched our new website combining a modern feel & stream lined communication.

> We’ve upgraded our club management system Club Buzz.. no transition is easy, but this promises to be a system to improve upon communication ( With a club app soon to be launched!) Matt Puddy os spearheading this transition, Thankyou Matt.

> We’ve created the role of a Social Media Manager, filled by Will Scott, to create a strategy to increase club transparency & presence on social media.

> We welcome our new umpire coordinator Mathew George . Umpires are the backbone to the sport & club, no umpire, no game. Mat will be heading the co-ordination whilst working with Mark Windsor to develop umpires at the club.

> Club Socials, a topic discussed at every committee meet, we know it’s been too long and something we look to bring back ASAP once we can be reassured of members welfare.

Club Strategy

Each step we take is following our club strategic direction to keep building as a club & community. We look to provide an update on our club strategy progression following the winter break.

To all players, coach’s & volunteers… Thankyou.

Thank you for your patients, resilience & positive attitude. We still have a few hurdles to jump as we look to recover from the pandemic, but it’s great to be back playing competitive hockey with such a buzz in the club.
