Fresh off the back of last week’s win over Cirencester the M2s visited Cheltenham at Balcarras in what is always a tight game.
With the sun shining and an almost late James Readstone, the team took to the field prepared and ready to go.
A cautious and patient start saw the ball being passed around the back on a solid platform of Kris Thomson, Adam Sanderson, Matt Puddy, and new to the squad James Roffe, all of whom took the time to exploit the space on the pitch by either shifting the ball quick or throwing over the block into space for the mids and forwards to attack the D.
At around 15 mins a PC was won with Puddy stepping to the top of the D in what looked like a fake as it was so out of character but ended in a drag flick heading mid way up the left post to get put into the roof of the net by the GK who almost saved it.
The second goal was not long after with a similar routine from Readstone being blocked by a quick number 1 runner however it fell for Thomson to capitalise on the loose ball and strike for a other goal.
An upbeat but constructive half time talk lead to more of the same patience and control of the ball leaving little room for the opposition to gain ground deep in Gloucesters half.
They say speed kills and and Jakob Tovey and Max Carter proved this by running hard at the defense ultimately turning into two late open goals for one a piece.
Cheltenham still pushed hard and managed to convert a PC on the back post with a slide pass from top D finishing the score with a 4-1 win.
