12/10 – Men’s 1sts vs Ross 1sts
“Ah sh*t, here we go again”
CJ, GTA San Andreas 2004
One week on from Cheltenham and the men’s 1sts go again. This time away from home at the attractive market town of Ross-On-Wye. The Gloucester Reds looking to keep up their invincible start to the season.
No fast start this week for Gloucester, a couple of early chances but no kick off glitch from the first whistle. An early chance created and almost expertly finished by Newman catapulted the game into life. Ross had the best chance of the first encounter winning a flick from a long aerial into the D. Having given away the flick, Billy then produced some magic and produced a fine save to keep the scores level.
Ross eventually did take the lead through a penalty corner. A drag flick from the edge of the area into the middle of the goal.
Into the second half we went pushing for an equaliser. Sustained pressure led to another half chance almost buried at the back post by Newman. Under five minutes left on the clock and Gloucester won a short corner of their own. The ball falls to Chris Harrington, with the experienced campaigner duly dispatching it and making it 1-1.
A tight game that could’ve been 3-3 on another day. Points shared and the unbeaten start continues. See you at training Tuesday.
