The mens 2s took the arduous and distant trek to Brockworth this week taking on Lansdown 3s.
Playing off a 60% press to start the men waited patiently to try and break into the Lansdown defense.
Patience definitely paid off with James Readstone breaking through to score, which was rapidly capitalised on more than once to see a Readstone hat trick just 18 mins into the game.
Confidence proving a little too high the men conceded a pre half time goal leaving the score at 3-1.
To make matters worse, GCHC had picked up an upgraded green and yellow card for Readstone, eclipsing the speed of his earlier hat trick.
Starting the second half with 10 men and fighting against a bouyed opposition the M2s found themselves back to a 3-3 game leaving it all to play for.
It’s hard to say what changed, if you were watching from the side, but something thing certainly did and GCHC were back on the attack. Two penalty corners and two drag flicks from Puddy, followed by a third PC and a smooth left slip to Rich Wintour who also sent the ball into the net set GCHC back to a three goal buffer and comfortably in the lead again.
Max Carter with his speed and sneaky touch then went on to push the game to 7-3 which Lansdown didn’t have the time to recover from and calm, controlled passing by GCHC to retain the ball made sure of it.
Another game, another 3 points.
