As many of you will have seen on our social media channels, last week we received the incredibly sad news that our Club President Peter Roberts passed away.

Peter has been involved with the club for almost 70 years, beginning in the 50’s as a member, and has attended many club games, events, and meetings over the years. Additionally Peter was a well respected umpire across the county and a coach assessor. Many of you will have sat with him on the sidelines in the dugout watching games, or at the dinner dance. It’s actually almost impossible to find a part of the club that Peter hasn’t been involved with over the years and as a result is a huge loss for the club and our hockey family.

On Monday 22nd August there will be a private family cremation for Peter. Following this, Jo and Jerry, would like to invite all club members to join them at the Thanksgiving Service which will be held at 11:00am at Lonsdale Church, Lonsdale Road, and would love to see as many friends there as possible.

If you are unable to make the service there will also be an opportunity to raise a glass for Peter at the Walls Club from around 12:00pm and all will be welcome to attend.

Furthermore we are in the process of organising a memorial game for Peter with more details to follow. It would be great to see as many people at the game as possible.

Our thoughts and hearts go out to Peter’s family in what must be an incredibly hard time.

The hockey world has seen an absolute legend leave us.
