Gloucester City Hockey Club is seeking an experienced and driven coach to successfully deliver performance coaching and player management for the Gloucester City Men’s 1st team in the VERDE RECREO Hockey League Championship for the 2021/2022 season. With many exciting changes at Gloucester City, we are already planning ahead for success for next season and beyond.

As Men’s 1st team coach you work with the Director of Performance and Club Captain to continually develop the men’s section, from coach & player development vision of coaching at Gloucester City Hockey Club. 

General 

    t

  • Build on the GCHC Charter of Excellence, lead a culture of performance and accountability for the men’s 1st team in line with and working across the wider club and men’s teams. 
  • t

  • Produce and deliver a strategic plan for the development of senior men’s 1st team hockey. 
  • t

  • Evaluate and monitor progress against the strategic plan objectives. 
  • t

  • The performance of the successful candidate will be measured by agreed KPIs through formal appraisals by the Director of Performance at key points within the season. 
  • t

  • To abide by, follow and implement the Club’s Codes of Conduct and other Policies including, but not limited to the Equity Policy and Child Protection Policy and Charter of Excellence.

 

Team & Club Development 

    t

  • Develop and implement a way of playing for the 1st team that can be shared with the 2nd team to ensure a smooth transition of players.
  • t

  • Work closely with the 2s coach/captain to ensure appropriate players are selected and invited to training.
  • t

  • To consult with the Men’s Club Captain, Men’s 1st team captain regarding squad selection and weekly selection of the 1st XI. 
  • t

  • To take responsibility for the performance and development of individuals and the team at both training and matches.
  • t

  • Assess and develop all the players providing individualised constructive feedback as appropriate.
  • t

  • Work with our performance department to implement squad fitness programmes and physical performance testing.
  • t

  • To support our Player Development Pathway, driving internal development of players within the mens section.
  • t

  • To help recruit elite players to the club.

  • Salary: Competitive salary will be commensurate with experience / the geographical region and the standard of hockey.

  • (We can not offer accommodation and travel and subsistence expenses are not paid. The candidate requires an England Hockey DBS and these costs are to be borne by the candidate)

  • The position is subject to a probation period of 3 months. 
  • t

  • The Contract is for the 2021/2022 Season, and will start alongside the upcoming pre season
  • t

  • The position is initially for the 2021/2022 season with the option to extend this into a second season subject to an end of year review, the role and the member’s AGM in May 2021.
